One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is the homemade handmade treats! Handmade gifts are budget friendly and thoughtful – bonus if they are edible, too!
My family is big on hand made gifts. This has been true since I was a child, when even amongst store bought things there were always precious hand sewn skirts and dolls from my mom. I was a lucky kid.
One Christmas she made me a singing heart. It was a necklace that sang a song every time I pressed the center of a puffy red heart. I loved that necklace (not to mention it came with a matching skirt – win!).
As I got older and started earning money, it became easier to purchase gifts, wrap them and place them under the tree. While presents are always fun, there is still a little more excitement in making something for someone else or for yourself. Plus, it’s often more budget friendly.
In the last few years I’ve made lots of gifts: hand knit head warmers, rose bud cuticle salve and a Winter chest rub. I usually make a gift in one of three main categories: wear-ables, use-ables and eat-ables (edibles?).
These are the edible gifts I’d love to give (or receive) this season:
