I hope you enjoyed Wedding Week as much as I did. I had a great time looking through all of our photos again and picking my favorite ones to share. In addition to celebrating our first wedding anniversary this past weekend, we celebrated another colossal occasion: the 101st birthday of Grandma Lu!
Matt’s grandmother turned 101 on April 5th. We thought her 100th birthday was special, but this one was even better because it fell on Easter. My mother in law showered her with cake, wine and 90+ cards sent by friends, family and even strangers, who wanted to wish Lu the best.
One of our favorite questions for Lucille is “how do you live to be 100?”
Her answer: Don’t Worry.
Simple, right? But how many of us can actually put our worries aside? Not many. I know that I can be an incessant worrier. I worry about little and big things; things that may not matter in 5 years or even 5 minutes. It’s almost like worrying is a bad habit we just can’t seem to break.
Most of us are willing to give up the things that are bad for us. We stop eating the wrong foods, we won’t smoke, we limit alcohol…but how many of us limit our “worrying intake?” How many of us cut ourselves off when we’ve worried too much?
In honor of Grandma Lu, and her 101 wonderful years, I challenge you to worry less this week. Maybe if we do it together, we can make it to 101, too.
Your turn: what is the best birthday you’ve ever celebrated? what is the greatest advice you’ve ever been given?
