To say life has been busy would be an understatement. Since I got back from Denver a few weeks ago, life has been nonstop. This past weekend we finally had the chance to make a much needed Costco run and we came back with a few goodies.
1. Organic Coconut Oil
In my opinion, Carrington Farms makes the best coconut oil. The price at Costco can’t be beat! I’ve been using this brand for almost two years now and I based on it’s quality/price, I don’t think I’ll ever use another brand. I use this for cooking and beauty projects (like this or this).
2. Orgain Chocolate Plant Protein
If you’re already someone who uses plant protein, you’ll appreciate this brand. It actually tastes good. So good, that Matt will drink it without complaining. It’s a lot creamier than my Garden of Life protein and the flavor is great.
3. Rojo’s Organic Salsa
This was an impulse purchase. They were sampling it with edamame chips (also amazing) and we purchased it since we were going to a BBQ at my parents house. It’s fresh and delicious. I would definitely buy it again if we were having a get together or felt like we could eat 3lbs of salsa fairly quickly.
4. Seeds of Change Brown & Red Rice
We don’t usually buy prepackaged grains BUT this was too good to pass up. Not only was it on sale, with a nearly empty pallet, the Costco employee who was restocking nearby vouched for it. I’ll give you an update once we try it.
5. Organic Tomato Sauce
I think it’s good to have tomato sauce on hand to use as a base in Indian vegetable dishes, Italian and Mexican dishes. And since we’re big fans of all three this seemed like a good purchase. I made a really delicious one pot Mexican rice with tomato sauce and that was on my mind when I put this into our cart. Lots of Mexican rice is on the horizon.
6. Fresh Fruit
Costco has so much amazing fresh fruit right now. I wanted to buy it all but walked away with two pineapples and a bag of Cara Cara oranges (I’m obsessed with them). Since we snack on fruit quite a bit these days, it’s always nice to find it at a good price.
Your turn: favorite Costco buy? Do you like wholesale stores or would you rather shop small scale?

No Costco up here but we have other just as great stores in the area.
As long as I find my coconut oil. Love this the most. Used in cooking to scrubbing skin!!
Coconut oil is amazing. I love the nutty taste it adds to food. I’ve heard it is good in coffee too!
I love shopping at Costco for fresh fruit! All of the berries, melons, pineapple.

Sometimes, I really have to hold back when I see their selection of fruits/veggies. So much yummy stuff! I try to limit myself to one or two things so that I can eat it all before it starts to spoil :)
Love the tub of coconut oil – such a great deal!
And I’ll have to check out the protein powder. Thanks for the new product recs!

It’s pretty good! I think the chocolate flavor is great compared to the other chocolate plant proteins I’ve tried. If you get it, let me know what you think.
I find that shopping wholesale leaves me spending more money in the long run, because I usually also stop at smaller stores for non-bulk items. Maybe I’m not planning it the right way! Fruit is DEFINITELY a good buy at Costco :)

I can totally see how that would happen. Sometimes we make a Costco run and can get buy without going to the regular grocery store for a week or so. Other times when we hit both it can seem like we have a lot of food and we have really plan out how things are going to get used up so we don’t end up wasting. Sometimes grocery shopping/meal planning feels like an art form :P
I love Costco. It’s the only real reason that I kept my car when moving to the city. We buy 6 bags of power greens every 2 weeks to make smoothies. If it weren’t for that I don’t know that I would go as much. I get my Medjool dates there too. I’ve had that protein powder before too and it’s pretty good. The coconut oil I have as well and it’s a great investment! I haven’t seen those rice packages but the same company made ones with garlic and something else that I got. They were great for a quick dinner base. Now I will have to be on the lookout for those!

The Power Greens are THE BEST! I can’t get enough of them. And the price is ridiculous. My local grocery store could never match the price. I’m looking forward to trying the rice out. I feel like it’ll come in handy on a busy week night :)
Pragati, I don’t have a Costco card but this post makes me want to get one. There are a lot of people that have told me lately that Costco has a good amount of organic products. I will have to see about getting a pass to check it out.

They have really expanded their selection of organic/natural foods. It’s totally worth it! I would say even if I only bought my greens and frozen fruits from there it would be worth it. They have big bags of organic blueberries and strawberries that are so affordable. If you have one nearby, definitely check it out!
I love Costco! Ours has a big salad kit for like $5.49 so I buy it at the beginning of the week and make salads out of it all week. It makes for a cheap, easy, and nutritious lunch. I also *love* the Orgain chocolate protein powder. I am almost out so will be making a Costco run soon for some more.

That’s a great idea! I love the Power Greens they sell. Such an awesome deal. the price seriously can’t be beat. Orgain has the best chocolate flavor of any plant protein I’ve tried so far. Love it!
I miss Costco. The closest one to me is 3 hours away! :[
Fun fact: I eat so much that when I finally moved out of my parents’ house, they got to cancel their Costco membership. :O

LOL, you might eat a lot but you certainly have good habits! I wish that there were more Costco locations. I’m lucky that I’m close to one, but if you drive an hour south you’re no where near a Costco.
We get all our groceries from Costco. I hope I can find that organic coconut oil up here in Canada :)
