I love mint.
It’s such a strong and resilient little plant. I originally planted a batch of mint in my in ground garden this spring and it quickly took over so I decided to uproot it and replant it in a container (mint will take over your whole garden if you let it).
This was a bad idea. The mint died off within days.
My dad gave me a stem from his mint plant to regrow my supply and I promptly forgot to replant it. Then I purchased a mint plant from Trader Joe’s and didn’t plant that either. Eventually I said “enough is enough” (or maybe Matt said it) and I planted both of my dried out little mint plants and hoped for the best. That was about six weeks ago and now I have a fully stocked mint plant:
Now that I have all of this delicious mint, I get to use it in lots of things. My favorites:
- After dinner tea (it’s great for your digestion)
- In a water bottle during the day for naturally flavored water
- In homemade body care products
Now that we’ve made the easy transition from gardening to bathing, let’s talk about my recent obsession: a Lemon + Mint Sugar Scrub. Have you ever gone to the store to buy a scrub? In my opinion, they’re ridiculous over priced. For example, this 7oz Fresh Brown Sugar Scrub is $38! You could buy several pounds of lemons, mint and sugar with that kind of money. More importantly, you could buy additive free lemons, mint and sugar.
